That’s the difference between good player and legend.

I see Brentford not getting promoted means Watkins has a buy out clause of £18m.

Re: Championship Playoffs
As if a player thats won player of the year in a team thats bottom is going to stay in the championship

Dont blame him for going at all, staying in London and Spurs were champions league werent they?

It stung him going there, but the service he gave us he earned the right to not want to play in the championship

Re: Championship Playoffs
Leaving and leaving for Spurs will always sour his time with us
Brooking & Bonds did 3 seasons in Div 2 with us

Re: Championship Playoffs
Was a fantastic player for us, in my years watching us I’d consider having him in my best 11. But the spurs thing does bug me and the way he started the championship season, shame cos he should really have been a west ham legend.

Re: Championship Playoffs
He was pulling out of challenges left, right and centre at Doncaster.

We scraped a 1-0 win, no thanks to him.

Re: Championship Playoffs
Three time hammer of the year and kept us up single handedly for one if not two of those seasons.

The way he left stops him being regarded as a 'legend' or a great but I can't understand the need for people to slate him.

he always gave his all.

Up until he knew he was off to the filth. The fucking fetus.

Re: Championship Playoffs
Happy for Parker. Despite him leaving to go to Spurs I felt we got the best years out of him and he always gave his all.

I was a bit annoyed we didn't offer him a chance to get his coaching badges at us instead of Spurs. However, when you look at the facilities Spurs have compared to ours, I doubt he would have come back.

Would not be against him one day becoming our manager if he proves his worth.

Re: Championship Playoffs
Not easy to see why Brentford put in such a woeful effort last night.

Maybe the two league defeats rocked them, after winning 8 games on the spin.

Is it 8 play off loses Brentford have knocked up now?

Re: Championship Playoffs
I like a bit of emotion in football
People complain that noone cares about the game most of the time.
You could see how much winning the FA Cup on the pitch meant to Martinez the keeper after he has been at Arsenal 10 years and been loaned out all over the place.
Ditto David Martin living the dream v Chelsea at Stamford Bridge

Bit embarrassing seeing Parker balling his eyes out last night.

Re: Championship Playoffs
Changed his tactics yesterday and did the job.
Sounds like the reaction is a bit like Allardyce needing a playoff to get us up.
Everyone who goes down thinks the manager should just turn around a bunch of losers but it’s a tough division to get out of.
Presume they won’t be repeating last time where they spent £100m on dross and pissed off all the players that got them up.

Re: Championship Playoffs
Parker has seemed to have mixed elements from Zola and Pulis looking at the style of football Fulham play.

A lot of pointless passing around, and then a lot of thuggery when they don't have the ball.

Re: Championship Playoffs
Fulham did a real professional job on them....only needed to nullify two players ...Benrahma and Watkins...and did it superbly, but i'd still take those two in a heartbeat.

Brentford melted in all the big games towards the end

Well done to super Scotty, hope he returns to our place one day

Doubt it, even the Fulham fans don't think he's any good. Only has a plan A and it's a boring plan A apparently.

Re: Championship Playoffs
The best thing about the playoff final is usually the atmosphere with 40,000+ fans from each side and no prawn sandwich eaters.
Very flat game which Fulham controlled and stifled Brentford.
Brentford could have won either of their last 2 league games or this one to be promoted and lost the lot.
Have now been in 9 Playoff campaigns and never been promoted that way.

Re: Championship Playoffs
IIRC the last few years these games have been poor, where they use to be good.

Again, there will be some absolute DROSS in the PL next season. It really would take something 'special' to be relegated.

Re: Championship Playoffs
Makes me laugh a little seeing the comments about cherry picking Brentford players, one, they didn’t look that flash to me! and Two, if comments were made like that about West Ham players from bigger clubs fans the same people would be outraged at the arrogance............

Sure you cant judge a player on 1 or 2 performances, and I haven’t been watching either of the 2 mentioned at all this season, but think they are punts at best from what I saw, and you would think if they are that good, the putting yourself in the shop front opportunity doesn’t come much bigger than this game!
